The Anambra State Police Command has foiled a planned cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, arresting six suspects.
The operation, which took place around 9:30am on Saturday, June 15, was carried out by police operatives who stormed the location based on intelligence reports.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects were caught in the act and several dangerous items were recovered from the scene.
Recovered items include a Jojef pump-action gun, two live cartridges, two cutlasses, a golden Lexus SUV with plate number ATN 202 AE, two scissors, charms, suspected hard drugs, and a cap bearing the insignia of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
Ikenga said the suspects are currently being interrogated, and the case will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
He assured residents that the police remain committed to stamping out cultism and other crimes in the state, urging the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
