Scorpion Squad Busts Major Kidnap Gang in Mpape

    Share

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Sale Usman, believed to be behind several high-profile abductions and killings in Abuja and surrounding states.

Usman, 30, a native of Niger State and resident of Shishipe village in Mpape, was captured by operatives of the Scorpion Squad on June 17, 2025, around 4:30 p.m., following a tip-off and forensic intelligence gathering.

His arrest came just days after the apprehension of another suspect, Y’au Shittu, 27, on June 13, as police ramp up efforts to crack down on kidnappers terrorising residents of the FCT.

Police sources revealed that Usman has confessed to being part of a deadly gang responsible for the murder of a pastor, the kidnapping of a woman for ₦10 million ransom, and the abduction of three children, during which their father was killed after resisting the gang.

During his arrest, a dagger was recovered, and police say more weapons are being tracked. Usman’s confession has reportedly helped police identify other members of the criminal group who are still on the run.
