There was a brief security scare in Kaduna on Thursday when a man suddenly broke through the crowd during President Bola Tinubu’s official visit to the state.
President Tinubu was in Kaduna to commission several key projects completed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration. These included a newly built 300-bed Specialist Hospital and the launch of 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses aimed at improving public transportation.
The incident happened while the President was delivering his speech. The unidentified man made a sudden move towards the stage, causing a momentary pause. Security operatives quickly stepped in and restrained him.
In a calm and composed manner, President Tinubu told the security officers, “Leave him alone,” before continuing his speech without further interruption. The governor also signalled to the security team to remain calm, helping ease the tension.
Reacting on social media, Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital and New Media, Otega Ogra, praised the swift and professional response of the security team.
“Handled with utmost professionalism by secret service agents without any disruption to Mr President’s speech or the event,” Ogra said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He added that President Tinubu is protected by some of the best-trained security personnel in the country, drawn from various intelligence and military agencies.
The identity and motive of the man involved in the disruption have not yet been disclosed.
