Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 22 Armoured Brigade have arrested eight suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims in a successful operation in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The operation, carried out by soldiers at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Patigi, was launched on Saturday based on credible intelligence, according to a statement released on Sunday by Lt. Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations.
The troops raided a hideout near Latandaji Village, where they encountered mild resistance but overpowered the suspects with superior firepower.
Two kidnap victims — Amos Moses and Philip Michael — were rescued during the operation, while one of the suspects, Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot wounds and is receiving treatment.
The army also recovered two motorcycles and two expended cartridges believed to have been used by the kidnappers.
Lt. Nwankwo said the arrested suspects are in military custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities after investigation.
He called on the public to continue supporting security agencies with useful information, stressing that the Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting lives and restoring peace across the country.
