    Aminu Dantata, Business Icon, Dies at 94

    Respected Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has died at the age of 94.

    A family source confirmed that he passed away in the early hours of Friday in a hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, after a brief illness. He reportedly died around 3am Nigerian time.

    Funeral arrangements, according to the family, will be announced soon.

    Born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, Alhaji Aminu Dantata was a key figure in Nigeria’s business world. He played a major role in the development of the country’s private sector and was known for his contributions to commerce and philanthropy.

    He was the last surviving member of the famous Dantata business dynasty, which was founded by his father, Alhassan Dantata — once regarded as the richest man in West Africa.
