Coco Gauff, the No. 2-ranked tennis star and recent French Open champion, suffered a surprising first-round exit at Wimbledon on Tuesday night.
Gauff lost 7-6 (3), 6-1 to unseeded Ukrainian player Dayana Yastremska at the prestigious No. 1 Court. This defeat makes Gauff just the third woman in the Open era to be knocked out in the opening round at Wimbledon immediately after winning the French Open.
The 21-year-old American, who had won her second Grand Slam title just three weeks ago by defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka at Roland-Garros, struggled badly during the match.
