Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has denied claims of any discussion between Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar about a joint presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections.
Tanko said this during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, stating that the topic has not come up and that such talks are only speculative for now.
He confirmed that consultations with like-minded political parties and stakeholders are ongoing but emphasized that any alliance will be based on the national interest, not just political elites’ deals.
Tanko also revealed that the movement is focused on building a broad coalition based on integrity, inclusiveness, and service to Nigerians.
On Peter Obi’s political plans, Tanko said the former governor remains committed to serving only one term if that is the coalition’s agreement, describing Obi as a man of his word.
