There is fear and confusion in Tse-Anundu, a rural community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, after suspected armed Fulani herdsmen attacked the village late Friday night.
Local residents told reporters that the attackers stormed the village unexpectedly, killing one person and abducting a woman. The identity of the victim is yet to be confirmed officially.
According to eyewitnesses, many villagers ran into nearby bushes to escape the violence. Some homes were left empty overnight, as families feared a possible return of the attackers.
“The gunshots were too many. We had to run for our lives,” one resident said.
This latest attack has thrown the community into mourning and sparked renewed calls for government action. Community leaders are pleading with both state and federal authorities to strengthen security in the area to prevent further bloodshed.
As of press time, the police and Benue State government have not released any official statement about the incident.
Benue State has experienced repeated clashes between farmers and suspected armed herdsmen in recent years, especially in Guma, a known flashpoint for such violence. The people of Tse-Anundu now join a growing list of communities living in fear of further attacks.
