Wike Vows to Resign If Amaechi Is Cleared in NDDC Probe

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he will resign from his position if the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) does not indict former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Wike made this declaration during an interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today* on Friday. He appealed to President Bola Tinubu to release the audit report, which was ordered by the federal government in 2019 to probe alleged financial mismanagement in the NDDC.

Wike claimed that the audit report contains details showing that Amaechi’s wife received N4 billion every month through her company to train women from the Niger Delta region. That would total N48 billion in one year.

“Amaechi’s wife company, every month, got N4 billion to train Niger Delta women. That is N48 billion in one year alone, and the forensic audit report is there. Who killed it?” Wike asked.

He urged President Tinubu to make the report public for the sake of transparency and accountability.

“If what I am saying is not in the document, I will resign as Minister of the FCT. I don’t worship office,” Wike declared.

The NDDC was set up in 2000 to develop the oil-rich Niger Delta region, but it has faced repeated allegations of corruption and mismanagement. The forensic audit, initiated under President Muhammadu Buhari, was meant to investigate how trillions of naira allocated to the agency were spent over the years. However, the report has not been made public since it was submitted in 2021.
