Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has appealed to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to consider increasing the state’s share of federal revenue. He said this would help Abia accelerate its development and complete more key projects.
Otti made the request on Sunday during a meeting with Mrs. Nkechi Otti, the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the RMAFC, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House.
The governor noted that Abia has shown strong financial discipline under his administration. He referenced a recent report from the Debt Management Office (DMO) which, according to him, confirms the state’s responsible financial management.
“Anything you can do to help us increase our federal allocation will be very much appreciated,” Otti told the RMAFC delegate. “We have a lot of projects we want to execute, and with more funds, we can achieve more.”
In her remarks, Mrs. Nkechi Otti said she was in Abia for a familiarisation visit following her recent appointment. She presented the commission’s report to the governor and promised to work in the best interest of the state.
