Primecare Hospital in Abuja has denied reports circulating online that popular content creator Mukoro Mitchelle, widely known as King Mitchy, died at its facility.
In a statement released on Saturday, the hospital said the claims were false and misleading. It stressed that King Mitchy was neither admitted to nor treated at the hospital.
The clarification comes amid an ongoing public dispute involving social commentator Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The management of Primecare Hospital described the report linking King Mitchy’s alleged death to its Abuja facility as completely untrue.
According to the hospital, it had no record of her admission or treatment. It urged members of the public to ignore the misinformation and verify claims before sharing them.
“The report linking her alleged death to our hospital is entirely false,” the statement said in part.
The hospital also expressed concern about the impact of such rumours on its reputation and on public trust in healthcare institutions.
Social media platforms have in recent days been filled with speculation about King Mitchy’s well-being. Some posts claimed she had died after allegedly consuming a substance identified as “Sniper,” a common pesticide in Nigeria. However, there has been no official confirmation of such claims from her family or verified sources.
The rumours gained attention following a series of public exchanges between VeryDarkMan and Seyi Tinubu.
VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken videos on social issues and politics, had earlier alleged that Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy were threatening his life. He also claimed that Seyi Tinubu had given King Mitchy N100 million to renovate a school within six days.
King Mitchy later denied receiving such money. The allegation sparked heated debates online, with supporters and critics of both sides exchanging accusations.
Seyi Tinubu, who is the son of President Tinubu, has often been in the public eye due to his business and political engagements. However, he has not publicly confirmed the claims made by VeryDarkMan regarding the alleged financial gift.
The online clash between the personalities has continued to draw attention, with thousands of comments and reactions across social media platforms.
The latest rumour about King Mitchy’s alleged death highlights the growing problem of misinformation on social media in Nigeria.
In recent years, false reports about celebrity deaths have become common. In many cases, such rumours spread quickly before official statements can be issued to confirm or deny them.
Primecare Hospital’s swift response appears aimed at preventing further spread of the rumour and protecting its image.
Healthcare institutions in Nigeria are often sensitive to claims linking them to controversial incidents, especially those involving alleged negligence or suspicious deaths.
Many Nigerians expressed confusion and concern following the reports. Some social media users called for King Mitchy to address the rumours directly to reassure her followers.
Others criticised the spread of unverified claims, urging people to act responsibly online.
The situation has also reignited discussions about the role of influencers and public figures in shaping public opinion. Both VeryDarkMan and King Mitchy have significant followings, and their statements often attract wide attention.
Nigeria has seen an increase in online activism and commentary in recent years. Social media platforms have become spaces where citizens debate politics, governance and social issues.
However, this openness has also led to clashes between influencers and political figures. Accusations, counter-accusations and public call-outs are now common features of the digital space.
The involvement of Seyi Tinubu in the dispute has drawn added interest due to his connection to the presidency. While he does not hold an elected office, his relationship to the President often places him under public scrutiny.
President Bola Tinubu has not commented on the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, there is no confirmed information indicating that King Mitchy is dead or hospitalised.
Primecare Hospital has clearly stated that she was not treated at its facility. The hospital urged members of the public and media organisations to verify information before publishing or sharing it.
The incident serves as a reminder of the need for responsible use of social media. False information can cause panic, damage reputations and create unnecessary tension.
For now, the rumour remains unverified, and the hospital’s denial stands as the only official statement connected to the claim.
