Kwara State has taken a bold step to redefine its image and attract global attention by erecting the tallest flagpole in West Africa, standing at 70 metres.

Unveiled as a new symbol of unity and progress, the massive flagpole is more than just a structure – it represents Kwara’s growing ambition to be seen as a hub of culture, tourism, and economic development.

Traditionally seen as a quiet civil service state, Kwara is now pushing forward with a new identity built on technology, creativity, trade, agribusiness, and tourism. The towering flagpole is the latest sign of this transformation.

The landmark, located in the state capital Ilorin, is expected to attract local and international visitors, bringing life to small businesses and boosting the local economy. Officials say it also sends a strong message about the unity and diversity of Kwara’s people – a blend of ethnic groups living together in peace.

Beyond its impressive height, the flagpole stands near other key projects like the Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, and International Conference Centre, forming part of the state’s ongoing urban renewal efforts.
