A missing Lagos banker, Osemudiamen Idemudia, was discovered dead with machete cuts on his body at a morgue in Yaba, Lagos, days after his family reported him missing. The 26-year-old worked in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in the Ikota area of the state and was last seen on the evening of May 9 in the CMS area of Lagos.

According to a relative, who identified himself as Segun, the body was found on Sunday during a desperate search across hospitals and morgues. He revealed that the body showed deep machete cuts on Idemudia’s head, face, and legs, raising suspicions that he might have been murdered.

“We found Osemudiamen’s body. He was murdered. We found the body on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba with machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. I’m so sad,” Segun said. He also noted that the morgue attendants could not provide any information on the identity of the police officers who brought the body in.

Idemudia’s father, Julius, explained that his son had gone to a meeting with a senior staff member at his bank’s headquarters in CMS, Lagos Island, after work. However, the meeting was canceled, and after parting ways with a colleague, Osemudiamen was never seen or heard from again. Julius said, “When it started getting late and we hadn’t heard from him, we became worried. After 24 hours of no contact, we raised the alarm.”

Despite the alarming discovery, details about the circumstances of Idemudia’s death remain unclear. His family had reported the incident to the Igando Police Station, near his home. The police have yet to release any further information on the matter.
