The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oluwatobiloba Kehinde for allegedly assaulting and threatening to shoot a resident in the Agbena area, near Ojere in Abeokuta.
The suspect was apprehended on Saturday, June 28, 2025, following a distress call from the victim, according to a statement released by police spokesperson Omolola Odutola on Sunday.
Odutola explained that the incident began on Friday evening when the complainant was returning from a football field around 6:00 p.m. Kehinde allegedly stopped him and demanded money, threatening to “deal with him” if he refused.
Shortly after, some gang members arrived on a motorcycle and joined in assaulting the victim. The situation worsened when Kehinde later traced the complainant to his family home, where he showed up with a locally made pistol and continued making threats.
“Operatives of the Command acted swiftly and arrested the suspect. The weapon used to issue the threats was recovered,” Odutola said.
The police have launched a preliminary investigation and assured the public that further updates will be shared as the case progresses.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining safety and urged residents to report any suspicious activities promptly.
