The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a successful airstrike on a key Boko Haram logistics base in the Mandara Mountains area of Borno State.
According to a statement by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the operation was carried out under Operation HADIN KAI and targeted the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.
The Mandara Mountains, which lie along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, have long served as a stronghold for insurgents due to the rugged and difficult terrain. Recent intelligence revealed that the area had become a hub for terrorist logistics and a hideout for senior Boko Haram commanders.
Responding to the intelligence, NAF deployed its aircraft in a series of coordinated airstrikes. These attacks destroyed several key terrorist facilities, including logistics warehouses, command centres, and defensive shelters.
The air force said the operation dealt a major blow to the insurgents’ supply chain and disrupted their planning and movement in the area.
The military has stepped up operations in the North-East in recent months, aiming to weaken terrorist groups and restore peace in the region.
