In the central states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Niger, residents should expect cloudy mornings with scattered thunderstorms later in the day. Moderate rains are also likely during the three-day period.

Southern Region

In the southern states, particularly along the coast and inland areas such as Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Delta, NiMet forecasts continuous rainfall. Moderate to heavy showers are expected daily, especially in the afternoons and evenings.

NiMet has advised the public to take precautions during this period, particularly in flood-prone areas. The agency warned that thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong winds, which could cause damage to structures, trees, and power lines. Residents are also urged to avoid standing under trees or near unsecured structures during storms.

The forecast is part of NiMet’s ongoing efforts to prepare Nigerians for extreme weather events and reduce risks to lives and property.
