Troops from Operation Fansan Yanma, working alongside local vigilantes, successfully repelled a fresh bandit attack in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. During the clash, security forces recovered three AK-47 rifles from the fleeing bandits.
The attack happened in the early hours of Wednesday along the eastern side of Tsafe, near a remote forest corridor close to Yankuzo. Bandits attempted to enter the area, but troops and vigilantes intercepted them before they could reach Tsafe town.
A security source said the attackers were met with strong resistance, resulting in a fierce gun battle. “Several bandits were killed, and three AK-47 rifles were recovered during the encounter. The bandits were forced to retreat, although the exact number of casualties is still being confirmed,” the source added.
As the fighting grew intense, military reinforcements were sent to the scene to keep pressure on the bandits and prevent further attacks.
This incident is part of ongoing efforts by security forces and local communities in Zamfara to combat banditry and restore peace in the region, which has suffered repeated attacks in recent years.
