    Herdsmen Kill Farmer on His Farm in Delta

    There is tension in Jesse Community, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, after suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked and killed a farmer, Ayo Abuneke, on his farm.

    The attack happened when Abuneke confronted the herdsmen for destroying his crops. According to reports, he arrived at the farm and challenged the herdsmen, who then attacked him with daggers and other weapons, killing him on the spot.

    A son of the deceased, who was with him, managed to escape and raised the alarm in the community.

    Following the killing, some Hausa residents in Jesse Community have fled, fearing possible revenge attacks by angry youths determined to avenge Abuneke’s death.

    Delta State has witnessed several clashes between farmers and herdsmen over land and crop destruction, causing unrest in many communities.
