Disguised Hitmen Arrested in Kano’s Kurna Area

Security operatives in the Kurna area of Kano city have arrested a group of suspected thugs who disguised themselves as women to carry out targeted attacks.

The suspects, believed to be hired hitmen, were caught over the weekend as they attempted to sneak into the community, allegedly planning to assassinate certain individuals. They were intercepted by a local security team acting on intelligence and suspicious behaviour.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the men dressed in female clothing to blend in with women in the area, hoping to avoid suspicion and get close to their targets.

“They came dressed like women, even covering their faces, but something seemed off. That’s when the local security started asking questions,” said one resident who witnessed the arrest.

The suspects were said to be part of a wider criminal network that employs disguise tactics to gain access to high-risk targets without drawing attention.

Following their arrest, they were handed over to the appropriate security agency for investigation and possible prosecution.

So far, the identities of the suspects and their intended targets have not been officially released, but security officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing and more arrests may follow.

Residents of Kurna have since expressed relief and gratitude to the security team for their timely intervention. They also urged the government to strengthen community policing efforts across Kano to prevent similar threats.

“We thank our local security men. They were alert and brave. We need more support from the government to keep our community safe,” said another resident.

Kano State, like many urban areas in Nigeria, has witnessed a rise in targeted attacks and criminal activity in recent months. Authorities have repeatedly called for stronger collaboration between local communities and security agencies to improve intelligence gathering and early intervention.

This latest incident adds to concerns about how criminal gangs are becoming more daring in their operations, using unusual tactics such as disguise and deception to carry out crimes.
