The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured Nigerians that Abuja will become a world-class city under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike gave this assurance on Monday during the official flag-off of the construction of Access Roads ILS 02 and ILS 03, known as Timipre Sylva Street, located in the Mabushi District of Abuja.

While addressing government officials, contractors, and residents at the event, Wike said the Tinubu administration is fully committed to delivering quality infrastructure and transforming the Federal Capital into one of the most developed and livable cities in the world.

“In terms of infrastructure, Abuja will compete with other known cities of the world,” the minister stated.

Wike noted that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda is not just a campaign slogan but a clear vision aimed at improving the quality of life for all Nigerians, especially those residing in the FCT. He added that he and his team are fully committed to implementing the President’s mission and ensuring that all outlined projects are completed successfully.

“We are here as agents of Mr President to implement the Renewed Hope agenda for the people of Nigeria, particularly for those in the FCT,” Wike said.

The minister also responded to critics who have questioned his focus on road construction. He welcomed the criticism, saying it is proof that progress is being made in the FCT.

“So many people have accused us of constructing roads. I said that’s one thing good — at least you have identified that something is going on,” Wike remarked, drawing applause from those present.

Wike went on to thank President Tinubu for what he described as the President’s “love and commitment” to the development of the FCT. He urged residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the administration’s efforts to build a modern capital city that meets international standards.

The Mabushi access roads project is one of several major infrastructure projects recently initiated by the FCT Administration. Others include road expansion in Garki, Wuse, and Asokoro districts, as well as the planned rehabilitation of streetlights, water systems, and waste management services.
