Dangote Industries Limited has launched a whistleblower initiative offering a cash reward of N500,000 to members of the public who provide credible information leading to the arrest of people involved in illegal haulage activities using Dangote-branded trucks.

The company said the new initiative is part of a broader campaign to protect its nationwide logistics operations, prevent the misuse of its trucks and preserve the integrity of the Dangote brand.

In a statement issued in Lagos, the management said the reward would be paid to anyone whose information leads to the arrest of offenders or the interception and recovery of unauthorized goods being transported with the company’s vehicles.

According to the company, the growing misuse of Dangote trucks for unauthorized commercial activities has made it necessary to involve members of the public in identifying and reporting offenders.

It stressed that only approved products are allowed to be transported by trucks belonging to its subsidiaries, warning that any vehicle found carrying unauthorized goods would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage.

The company also warned that drivers caught violating the rules, as well as owners of the unauthorized goods, could face arrest, confiscation of their cargo and prosecution under relevant laws.

“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorized goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company stated.

Dangote explained that each of its business units has clearly defined products that its trucks are permitted to transport.

It said trucks belonging to Dangote Cement are authorized to carry only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker.

Similarly, vehicles operated by Dangote Sugar Refinery are expected to transport only sugar products.

The company added that trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are restricted to the movement of Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging trucks are designated exclusively for bags and packaging materials.

According to the statement, trucks owned by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are authorized to transport polypropylene products only, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited trucks are permitted to haul urea fertilizer.

The company said any deviation from these approved cargoes would amount to illegal haulage and attract immediate enforcement action.

To support investigations, Dangote urged whistleblowers to provide detailed and accurate information when reporting suspected cases.

Such information, it said, should include the type of truck, registration number, cab number, exact location, colour of the vehicle, description of the goods being transported and photographs of both the truck and its cargo where possible.

The management explained that detailed reports would help security agencies and company officials respond quickly and improve the chances of intercepting offending vehicles.

To make reporting easier, Dangote said it has established dedicated telephone hotlines across its operations to receive complaints and information from members of the public.

The hotlines, according to the company, cover trucks operating from major cement plants, including those in Obajana, Okpella and Gboko.

It encouraged citizens, transport operators and host communities to make use of the reporting channels whenever they observe suspicious activities involving Dangote-branded trucks.

The company also disclosed that law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been authorized to arrest any driver found using Dangote trucks for unauthorized commercial haulage.

It said the collaboration with security agencies is aimed at strengthening enforcement and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.

Dangote reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against logistics-related fraud, describing illegal haulage as a threat not only to its business operations but also to public confidence in the company’s transport system.

According to the company, protecting its logistics network is essential because its trucks move raw materials and finished products across different parts of the country every day.

The management noted that unauthorized use of company trucks could expose the business to financial losses, operational disruptions and reputational damage.

It added that the whistleblower programme is designed to improve transparency, accountability and compliance throughout its nationwide transportation network.

The company also believes that involving the public will make it more difficult for illegal operators to misuse Dangote-branded vehicles for commercial gain.

Dangote said the success of the campaign depends largely on public participation, urging Nigerians with credible information not to remain silent.

“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities. We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system,” the statement said.

The company assured whistleblowers that genuine reports would support ongoing efforts to protect company assets, promote lawful business practices and strengthen confidence in its logistics operations.

Dangote Industries Limited is one of Africa’s largest manufacturing conglomerates, with interests in cement production, sugar refining, salt processing, fertiliser manufacturing, packaging and petroleum refining. Its trucks operate across Nigeria daily, transporting raw materials and finished products to factories, depots and customers.

In recent years, many large companies have strengthened internal compliance systems and partnered with law enforcement agencies to combat theft, diversion of goods, unauthorized haulage and other logistics-related crimes that can affect supply chains and increase business costs.

Corporate whistleblower programmes have also become more common, offering financial rewards or other incentives to individuals who provide information that helps uncover fraud and illegal activities. Such initiatives are widely seen as a way of improving transparency, protecting company assets and supporting law enforcement.

With the latest reward scheme, Dangote Industries says it hopes to discourage the misuse of its branded trucks, strengthen accountability within its transport network and ensure that only approved products are moved by its vehicles across the country.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies and the public to identify offenders, protect legitimate business activities and maintain the integrity of the Dangote brand nationwide.
