Kaduna Police Arrest Two Men For Burying Man Alive Over Phone Theft

    Share

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects involved in a gruesome crime where a man was buried alive in Zaria. The disturbing incident came to light after a video circulated, showing the victim buried with only his head exposed.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the police spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, the suspects were apprehended following the video’s widespread circulation. The victim, a 20-year-old from Gauraki village, had previously worked with the suspects at a construction site in Abuja. The trouble began when the victim was accused of stealing a cell phone worth N35,000.

The conflict over the stolen phone led the suspects to decide that the victim’s daily wages should cover the cost of the phone. This decision caused tension, and the victim, feeling frustrated, left Abuja for Zaria. However, the suspects, who are siblings, followed him to Zaria.

On August 10, the suspects located the victim, abducted him, and took him to an uncompleted building where they buried him alive. The victim was restrained and left with only his head exposed. His cries for help were eventually heard by a passerby, who promptly alerted the authorities.

ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed that the suspects had confessed to the crime during police interrogation. The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Audu Ali, has cautioned the public against taking justice into their own hands. He assured that the case would be investigated thoroughly and professionally.
