A shocking scandal has erupted in Jigawa State as Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner of Special Duties, has been arrested for allegedly having an affair with a married woman.
Sankara was caught in an uncompleted building owned by him, where he was with Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the wife of Nasiru Bulama.
The arrest was made by the Kano State Hisbah Board, a group that enforces Islamic law in the state.
According to Abba Sufi, the Director General of Hisbah, the arrest followed complaints from Bulama’s younger brother.
“Yes, it is true we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa Commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him,” Sufi confirmed.
Bulama reported the affair to multiple authorities, including the Kano State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sufi explained, “Nasiru Bulama filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging Sankara’s involvement in illicit sexual activities with his wife.”
Bulama’s accusations not only involve the affair but also highlight concerns about the commissioner’s activities beyond personal misconduct.
This incident has ignited discussions about the behaviour of elected officials in Nigeria, particularly regarding their responsibilities to their constituents.
The fallout from this arrest may have serious consequences for Sankara’s political career.
Community leaders are calling for a thorough investigation into his activities.
The Hisbah Board has vowed to ensure justice is served in this case.
Sufi added, “We will not tolerate any illegal activities, especially from someone in a position of authority.”
As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely to see how the government will respond.
With growing public scrutiny, the case serves as a reminder that leaders are not above the law.
