The Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced a 15% discount on the Land Use Charge (LUC) payment for 2025, encouraging property owners to make early payments. This initiative is aimed at improving the financial capacity of the state government to continue developing key infrastructure and public services for the benefit of residents.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Abayomi Oluyomi, in a statement released on Thursday. According to the statement, the government’s commitment to maintaining world-class infrastructure and services for residents of Lagos remains strong. This move is part of a broader effort to ensure that the state’s finances remain stable, which is critical for the continued progress of the city.
Mr. Oluyomi highlighted the importance of Land Use Charge payments, stating that the revenue generated plays a significant role in funding essential public infrastructure projects such as roads, healthcare facilities, schools, and security services. In his statement, Oluyomi called on property owners across Lagos to take advantage of the 15% early payment discount. “This is an opportunity for all property owners to contribute directly to the development of Lagos by fulfilling your civic duty,” he said. “By paying your Land Use Charge on time, you are helping to build a safer, cleaner, and more efficient city for all of us to live in.”
The 15% discount is only available to property owners who make payments before the deadline set by the state government. Oluyomi also reminded residents that the Land Use Charge is an important source of revenue for the state and encouraged property owners to pay promptly to avoid penalties or interest charges.
To make the payment process more convenient, the Lagos State Government has made several payment options available. These include online platforms such as internet banking, mobile payment through USSD codes, and Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals available at LUC offices. Property owners can also use the Lagos Online Assistant (LOLA), a WhatsApp-based robotic payment platform that allows users to make payments directly from their phones.
Oluyomi further noted that property owners could visit the walk-in centers listed on the back of their LUC bills for any inquiries or complaints regarding the payment process. He urged residents to utilize these services to ensure a smooth payment experience.
