The arrest took place on April 22 at around 8 p.m. in Abeokuta, the state capital. According to the Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence that led to the discovery of human body parts. Akintobi, who was arrested at his residence in Itoku area, is accused of being involved in the illegal trade of human body parts.

The police investigation expanded as they arrested Olaniran and Tijani after searching Akintobi’s home. During the search, the police found several body parts, believed to be human remains, including cerebral bones. The police also discovered these remains at a location disguised as a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Kobape town along Abiola Way in Abeokuta.

The police spokesperson confirmed that further investigations are ongoing, with the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, directing the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a detailed probe into the suspects’ full involvement in the crime.

In a statement, Odutola urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement in tackling ritual killings and related criminal activities in the state. “As a friendly force, we encourage the public to avoid shielding criminals and to provide timely, credible information to security agencies,” she said.
