The Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Haastrup, has stepped in to address the frequent accidents occurring along the Ibadan-Ilesa expressway. In an effort to reduce the road carnage, the monarch has taken the initiative to fund the repair of the busy highway.
Owa Haastrup revealed this during a visit from the Ijesa Society in Lagos, stating that he had secured approval from the Federal Ministry of Works to carry out the repairs at his own expense. His intervention aims to improve road safety and ease travel for commuters.
The paramount ruler promised that the road would be fully operational before his coronation ceremony, scheduled for May 23, 2025. He expressed confidence that the repairs would be completed on time, reducing the danger posed by the dilapidated road.
In addition to the road repairs, Owa Haastrup also outlined his plans to boost the local economy by training 25 Ijesa youths in agribusiness. The training will be conducted by experts from Nasarawa State, with beneficiaries receiving land, funding, and support to establish themselves in the field.
This intervention by Owa Haastrup highlights his commitment to improving the welfare of Ijesaland and ensuring the safety and prosperity of its people.
