    Lagos Police Arrest Suspect in Kogi Over Woman’s Murder, Car Theft

    The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Mrs. Jane Okoye, who was killed during a robbery on April 2, 2025, in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos.

    Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Sunday. According to Hundeyin, the suspect broke into Mrs. Okoye’s home, attacked her, and stole her Toyota Sienna vehicle. The victim was found unconscious and later died at a medical facility.

    After the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, detectives used intelligence and technical resources to track the suspect. The investigation led them to Ankpa, Kogi State, where the suspect was arrested. The stolen vehicle was recovered in good condition and has been secured as evidence.

    Hundeyin further confirmed that the suspect is currently being held at the SCID in Yaba, where he is providing information to assist investigators. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohunde Jimoh, assured the public that the suspect would be prosecuted once the investigation is complete.

    The Lagos Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, promising to continue efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
