Police operatives in Anambra State have successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a husband and wife on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in the Neni area of Anambra’s Anaocha Local Government.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police responded quickly to a distress call at Okacha junction in Neni around 8:45 pm. Upon arrival, they intercepted the kidnappers and rescued the victims. One of the victim’s vehicles was also recovered from the scene.
The police also revealed that a joint security effort involving the military, civil defense, and vigilantes was underway to track down the kidnappers, who had escaped in a stolen Black Lexus 350 SUV with registration number ABJ 557 LD. The vehicle was reportedly taken from one of the victims during the abduction.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure the safety and peace of the state.
