The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the personal details of 16 candidates vying for the governorship position in Anambra State’s upcoming election scheduled for November 8, 2025. This announcement follows the conclusion of party primaries and the submission of nomination forms by the respective political parties.

According to INEC, the particulars of each candidate, along with those of their running mates, have been published at the commission’s state headquarters and across all 21 local government offices in Anambra State. This move is in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates the publication of candidates’ personal details for public scrutiny.

INEC has urged the public to examine these documents carefully. Any aspirant who participated in their party’s primaries and has reasonable grounds to believe that a candidate has provided false information can challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court, as stipulated in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The commission emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability in the electoral process. By making these details publicly available, INEC aims to ensure that only eligible and qualified candidates contest in the election.

As the election date approaches, INEC continues to prepare for a free, fair, and credible electoral process in Anambra State. The commission has assured all stakeholders of its dedication to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that the will of the people prevails.
