Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully repelled attacks by armed bandits in Maru and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State on May 17, 2025.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, a group of bandits attacked Dankurji Village in Unguwar Galadima, Dansadau District, Maru LGA. During the attack, the bandits shot and killed Malam Audu, aged 28, before fleeing the scene.

Earlier that day, at approximately 9:30 a.m., another bandit group launched an assault on Keta Town in Tsafe LGA, firing sporadically at the town. However, the troops engaged the bandits in a fierce shootout and successfully repelled the attackers.

In the process, a 12-year-old girl, Fatima Ibrahim, was injured by stray bullets. She was quickly taken to the hospital and is now stable and responding to treatment. Fortunately, no casualties were reported among the security personnel involved in the operation.

The Nigerian Army’s prompt response prevented further loss of life and protected the communities from further harm. This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State, where bandit attacks continue to threaten residents and disrupt daily life.
