FIRS Opens Tax Offices on Weekends to Ease June Rush

    Share

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced that its tax offices across the country will now operate on weekends throughout the month of June.

This decision, made by FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji, aims to help businesses meet the June 30 deadline for filing their Companies Income Tax (CIT) returns. A statement by Dare Adekanmbi, Special Adviser on Media to the FIRS Chairman, confirmed the directive.

According to the statement, tax offices will be open **from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays** and **12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays**, starting from **June 14 to June 29**.

“This move is part of FIRS’s commitment to supporting taxpayers through a more customer-friendly approach,” the statement read.

Many companies with a financial year ending December 31 are legally required to submit their tax returns by June 30, making June the busiest tax filing period.
