One year after the death of Chief (Engr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, details of his Will have been made public.
The Will, shared by his administrator Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), reveals how the late elder statesman divided his properties and businesses among his wife, children, and other beneficiaries.
The late Chief Iwuanyanwu left his Port Harcourt Road residence in Owerri, known as “Legacy House,” to his wife, Lolo Frances. The Will clearly states that this property must never be sold.
Frances also inherited Magil Furniture, a business once run by Iwuanyanwu’s late first wife, Eudora. She received shares in other landed properties located in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze areas of Owerri.
His son was given his official residence in Abuja. The family’s London property is to be sold, with 60% of the money set aside for the education of his youngest son. The first son, Jide, is entitled to 30%, while 10% goes to Ezinne to help her find new accommodation, as she currently lives there.
The famous Glass House near Orji flyover is to be turned into a public trust managed by a board for charitable causes. Other properties in Abuja, Imo State, and across Nigeria were fairly shared among his five children. The family has reportedly expressed thanks for their father’s fairness and compassion.
However, 15 other properties were not included in the Will, as Chief Iwuanyanwu may not have finalized decisions on them before he fell ill.
A key condition in the Will states that Lolo Frances will lose all her inherited properties if she decides to remarry.
Attempts to get comments from Frances and the children were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
