Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed deep sorrow over the mob attack that led to the killing of eight travelers in Mangun District, Mangu Local Government Area, on Friday, June 20, 2025.

The victims, who were on their way from Zaria, Kaduna State, to Quan’pan in Plateau for a wedding, reportedly lost their way and entered a tense community already troubled by terrorist attacks. Sadly, they were mistaken and attacked by a mob, resulting in the loss of eight lives. Several others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Mangu.

Governor Mutfwang visited both the survivors and the site of the attack on Saturday. He described the incident as “senseless, avoidable, and completely condemnable.”

“Today is a tragic day for Plateau State,” he said. “It is painful that some of our youths, who have been helping security agencies to protect our communities, would now turn to take the law into their own hands. This is not who we are.”

The Governor acknowledged the suffering of local communities due to ongoing terrorist attacks, especially in Mangu, Bokkos, and surrounding areas. However, he stressed that this pain must not lead to jungle justice or attacks on innocent people.
