The Telangana State Gaming and Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) arrested a 22-year-old Nigerian man and two Indian drug dealers in Manikonda, Hyderabad, on Sunday. Police seized 107 grams of cocaine and 25 grams of ecstasy pills valued at about 30 lakh rupees.
The main suspect, Chukwumeka Wisdom Onyeka—also known as Victor Chukwu and Major Cartel—is a BSc student at Gokul Global University in Gujarat, India. Originally from Parra village in Goa and a native of Nigeria, Wisdom was previously arrested in 2023 in a cocaine case, during which his Sudanese passport was taken.
Two Indian accomplices, Gopishetty Rajesh and Bommadevara Veera Raju, were also arrested. The two began as drug users but later became suppliers to high-profile clients in Hyderabad’s elite social circles.
Police have identified several customers connected to the group, including Phani Raj, Pavithra Reddy, Satish, Sada Shiva, Sudhir, and Bhanu.
Officials revealed that Wisdom first entered India on a student visa using a Sudanese passport in December 2022. After his initial arrest, he obtained a Nigerian passport under a fake identity through a handler named Max in Goa. He returned to Nigeria in September 2024, destroyed the fake passport, and re-entered India in December using a genuine passport under his real name.
Max, also known as Princewel, Buchi, or Gabriel, is believed to be a Nigerian drug lord managing the syndicate. He reportedly uses students with fake identities to run the operation.
TGANB has urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and report any drug-related information to the police helpline numbers: 8712671111 or 1908.
