    Deadly Ambush: Soldiers Slain in Niger State Bandit Raid

    About 20 Nigerian soldiers have reportedly been killed in a deadly attack by armed bandits on a military camp near Bangi, in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.

    The attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, when the bandits launched a surprise assault on the camp. According to security sources, the attackers came heavily armed and overpowered the troops after a fierce gun battle.

    “Today, about 20 soldiers were killed by armed bandits near Bangi in an early morning attack on their camp,” a military source. Several others were said to have sustained injuries.

    Photographs of some of the fallen soldiers have reportedly been seen, although the Nigerian Army has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident as of press time.

    This latest tragedy adds to growing concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Niger State, where communities continue to suffer attacks by bandit groups. Locals in the area are said to be fleeing their homes for fear of more violence.
