Popular Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, known as 2Face or 2Baba, has shared painful details about his marriage to actress Annie Macaulay, describing it as a time when he felt he was “living in bondage.” He also claimed that his life faced threats during that period.
The singer revealed this while speaking on the +234 Mzansi Podcast, co-hosted by Nigerian comedians Nedu and Acapella, and South African media personality Kifilwe. He said the threat was serious.
“This thing wey dem call ‘living in bondage’ is real. There were some people who were ready to kill me,” he said, referring to experiences in his marriage to Annie.
2Baba and Annie married in May 2012 and have two daughters, Isabella and Olivia. On January 26, 2025, 2Baba announced their separation in a post on social media.
Since then, he has been publicly linked to Natasha Osawuru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
The singer’s revelation adds new information to their very public marriage and breakup, which had already stirred debate in media circles. It remains unclear what caused the alleged threats in their relationship.
2Baba’s openness about his struggles could encourage others to speak out about difficult marriages and mental health in relationships—a topic often avoided in Nigerian society.
