Youths in the Yaikyo area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital, have arrested a suspected notorious criminal known as ‘Anini’ during an attempted robbery at a local supermarket.
The suspect was caught in the act on Thursday night, June 26, 2025, amid a heavy downpour at Agbatse Supermarket, located behind Jesical Filling Station in the Yaikyo area.
The operation was led by Mr. Frank Igbakua, the community youth leader and head of the Yaikyo local security team. Upon apprehension, the suspect was immediately handed over to *Operation Zenda*, a special tactical unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
The arrest has been met with praise from residents, who described the community’s swift response as a major step toward tackling crime in Makurdi.
Locals commended the bravery of the youths and called on security agencies to take stronger actions to sustain the momentum against rising criminal activity in the state capital.
