Yobe State Police have arrested three men caught moving 133 cattle stolen from Kano State. The suspects were intercepted along Mashio village in Fune Local Government Area, the Police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the arrest happened on June 30, 2025, after officers received information about suspected cattle rustlers in the area. The arrested men are identified as Mohammed Sani (40), Abubakar Sani (35), and Abdullahi Buhari (37), all from Kano State.
The case has been handed over to the Police Crack Squad for further investigation.
In another operation on the same day, the Police responded quickly to a distress call about an armed robbery attempt in Jajare, also in Fune LGA. Two suspects were arrested, and the victim was rescued but suffered injuries.
The Police are conducting investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, praised the officers for their dedication and urged communities to continue supporting the fight against crime. He thanked residents for their cooperation and called for ongoing partnership with the Police.
This comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies in northern Nigeria to tackle cattle rustling, armed robbery, and other crimes that threaten peace and security in the region.
