The state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa, Aliyu Bello, has been suspended by officials from Gayam Electoral Ward in Lafia Local Government Area over allegations of anti-party conduct.

Ibrahim Iliyasu, the APC chairman of Gayam Ward, announced the suspension at a press conference held on Tuesday in Lafia. The suspension letter, signed by Iliyasu and 13 other ward executives, came after an investigation into complaints from party members.

According to Iliyasu, Bello was found to have openly promoted and campaigned for a member of another political party, violating Article 21 (1), (11), and (VII) of the APC constitution.

He said, “We have credible evidence that his actions have embarrassed the party and hurt its credibility among members.”

The ward executives stated that the suspension was made under their constitutional powers and would be forwarded to the Lafia Local Government Area Executive, Nasarawa State Executive Committee, and the APC National Working Committee for ratification and further action.
