The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied responsibility for the recent power outage affecting several areas in Abuja, sparking confusion among residents as power companies trade blame.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) had earlier attributed the blackout in places like Dilic Hotel, Prime Plaza, Exclusive Stores, Gilmore, Takwa Crescent, Former Zartech, PENCOM, and AMCON to a technical fault from TCN.
However, TCN has now come out strongly against that claim, saying its facilities are working perfectly and are not the cause of the outage.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said:
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) informs the public that the power outage affecting these areas is not due to a technical fault from TCN, contrary to AEDC’s claim.”
The statement added that the feeders under TCN serving the affected areas are working normally.
This disagreement has left residents in confusion, unsure of which agency is truly responsible for restoring electricity to their homes and businesses.
Power outages have become common in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, with many residents complaining of poor service and lack of clear communication from electricity providers.
