Popular Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has said he is no longer sure about marrying his fiancée and mother of his child, just two months after announcing plans to wed her.
The singer, who welcomed a baby boy with his girlfriend in November 2024, had earlier expressed confidence about settling down with her. However, in a new interview with TVC’s Interview with Esther Oye, he admitted that his feelings have changed.
“I was pretty sure about my stance at my last interview, but I’m now in a different place,” Reekado said. “It’s only been two months, but based on experience, I’m not so sure anymore.”
The former Mavin Records artiste said his change of heart has more to do with personal growth than his music career.
“I wouldn’t blame it on music but on myself and my emotional intelligence, which I am still working on,” he explained.
Reekado made headlines in December 2024 when he made a public appearance with his girlfriend for the first time, sparking wedding rumours that he later confirmed in an interview.
His recent statement has now left fans wondering about the future of the relationship. The singer did not give details about what led to the uncertainty but hinted that he is taking time to reflect and grow emotionally.
Reekado Banks rose to fame under Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records and has remained one of Nigeria’s top Afrobeats artists.
