Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused his predecessor and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, of lying about his wife’s profession.
Wike made the statement during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, where he reacted to Amaechi’s recent claim that his wife is an industrialist.
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, had made the comment in a separate interview on Thursday, sparking a public back-and-forth between the two political rivals.
Wike dismissed the claim, saying Amaechi’s wife is a trader, not an industrialist.
“I know Amaechi’s wife very well. When did she become an industrialist? Which of the manufacturing companies does she own?” Wike asked.
He expressed disappointment that Amaechi brought his wife into the political conversation, describing it as unnecessary and misleading.
“I’ve always said, if we’re playing politics, let’s play politics and leave our wives out of it. Amaechi is insulting Nigerians. He doesn’t know the difference between an industrialist and a trader,” Wike added.
The heated exchange is the latest in the long-running rivalry between the two former governors of Rivers State, who have frequently clashed in public since leaving office.
Their political feud continues to draw public attention as both men remain influential figures in Nigerian politics.
