Reports circulating on social media suggest that popular Nigerian evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away.
Rev. Ukpai, known across Nigeria and beyond for his powerful preaching and healing crusades, was the founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational ministry based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The ministry has, for decades, drawn thousands of Christians to its faith-based programs and crusades, especially in southern Nigeria.
A Christian media platform, Church Gist, broke the news in a Facebook post titled: “A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.” The post sparked an outpouring of tributes and reactions online from admirers, church members, and followers.
Rev. Ukpai was widely respected in Nigeria’s Christian community for his decades-long commitment to evangelism and humanitarian service. His messages of hope, healing, and faith earned him a national and international following.
Many Nigerians remember him for his dynamic preaching style, his role in the growth of Pentecostal Christianity in Nigeria, and his regular presence at major Christian gatherings across the country.
Born in Ohafia, Abia State, Rev. Ukpai’s ministry work spanned over 40 years, with a strong focus on revival, spiritual awakening, and national unity.
Many have begun sharing memories and tributes in his honour, reflecting on the impact of a man seen as a spiritual father to millions.
