Suspended Nigerian Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has dismissed recent allegations made against her by a United States-based activist, Dr. Sandra Duru, also known online as “Professor Mgbeke.”

In a statement issued on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan described the claims made during a Facebook livestream by Duru on May 1, 2025, as completely false and aimed at damaging her reputation.

“I have carefully watched a livestream which was done by one Sandra C. Duru on Facebook,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said. “The content of the livestream, including the voice effects credited to me, are entirely untrue and manipulated to serve Sandra Duru’s ulterior motive.”

The senator accused Duru of working to promote the interests of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, implying that the video was politically motivated.

She further claimed that the voice recordings in the video did not come from her and had been altered. “To the best of my knowledge, those words are false and did not emanate from any interaction involving me,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also revealed that Duru had previously operated under the name “Prof. Mgbeke” on social media, suggesting a pattern of online identity changes.

She promised to issue a detailed response to the allegations soon.

The background of the incident follows Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent suspension from the Senate, although full details of her suspension remain unclear. The senator has remained vocal and continues to challenge what she describes as political attacks against her.
