NCAA Warns Air Peace Over Frequent Flight Disruptions

    Share

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has warned Air Peace, the country’s largest domestic airline, to urgently improve its services following growing complaints about persistent flight delays and cancellations.

Speaking during a tense meeting in Abuja on Friday with some members of the airline’s management team, the NCAA Director-General, Capt. Chris Najomo, urged the airline to scale down its operations to match the number of available aircraft in its fleet.

Capt. Najomo said that chronic disruptions in flight schedules were damaging public trust and causing hardship for passengers. He added that Air Peace must restructure its operations immediately to avoid further regulatory action.

“The airline must cut its operations to fit its current capacity. You cannot schedule flights you do not have the aircraft to operate,” the DGCA stressed.

Responding at the meeting, Air Peace management acknowledged the airline was facing some challenges, but described them as typical of the aviation industry and said they were working hard to resolve them.

While offering the NCAA’s continued support to the airline, Capt. Najomo insisted that operators must follow aviation rules and global best practices.

He also warned that the NCAA had stepped up monitoring of all flight operations nationwide and would not hesitate to take action against non-compliant airlines.

This warning comes as Nigerian air travellers continue to raise concerns about unreliable flight schedules, missed connections, and lack of timely communication from airlines.
