Inter Milan captain, Lautaro Martínez, has sent a strong message to his teammates, telling those who are not fully committed to the club to leave.
His remarks came after Inter’s shock 2-0 defeat to Brazilian side Fluminense in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Fluminense took an early lead in the third minute when Germán Cano headed in a deflected cross. Substitute Hercules sealed the win with a second goal late in the match.
The result means Inter Milan are out of the tournament, while Fluminense advance to the quarter-finals.
Speaking after the game, Martínez expressed frustration over the team’s performance and attitude.
“I want to fight for top titles. Whoever wants to stay at Inter, good — let’s fight. Whoever doesn’t, they can leave,” he said.
“We are wearing an important jersey. We need players with the right mentality. I’m the captain, and my message is very clear: goodbye to anyone who doesn’t want to be here.”
Martínez’s outburst reflects growing pressure at the Italian club, as fans and management demand stronger performances following their early exit from a global tournament.
