Bashir Ahmad Slams Labour Party Over Obi Resignation Call

A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has criticised the Labour Party for allegedly asking its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to resign from the party.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Ahmad described the move as “disrespectful” and “ungrateful,” noting that Obi played a major role in building the party’s current national image and popularity.

“I am not a fan of Peter Obi or his ideologies,” Ahmad wrote, “but let’s be honest, it is incredibly disrespectful for the Labour Party to ask him to resign within hours. It is utterly ungrateful.”

Ahmad went further to say that at least 75% of the Labour Party’s current strength and support base came from Obi’s involvement in the 2023 elections.

“His entry gave the party national relevance. You don’t treat the person who built your house like a visitor,” he added.
