The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released its timetable for upcoming by-elections to fill vacant seats in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.
The party’s spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, announced the schedule on Wednesday, saying interested members can purchase and submit their forms at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
The cost for the senatorial forms is N500,000 for the expression of interest and N3 million for the nomination form. For the House of Representatives, the forms cost N500,000 and N2 million, respectively. Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly forms are priced at N100,000 for expression of interest and N500,000 for nomination.
According to the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, the primary election process starts with the notice of primary elections sent to the state chapters on July 2.
Forms will be available for sale from July 3 to July 10, with the deadline for submission set for July 11. Screening of aspirants will take place on July 15.
Ward congresses to elect ad-hoc delegates are scheduled for July 17, while local government congresses to elect national delegates will hold on July 18.
Any appeals related to screening and congresses will be addressed on July 19.
The party primary for candidate nomination is fixed for July 21, followed by appeals on July 22.
Candidates’ names must be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal by July 25, while polling agents’ names must be sent to INEC by August 4.
This timetable is part of the PDP’s preparations to contest by-elections aimed at filling vacant legislative seats across the country.
