The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos chapter, has begun an indefinite strike action over the non-payment of salaries for the month of June.

In a statement released on Thursday by the branch chairman, Prof. Jurbe Molwus, the union said the strike would begin by 12:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4, following a resolution reached during its congress held on June 4, 2025.

According to the statement, ASUU members have been directed to boycott all lectures and official meetings until their June salaries are paid.

“This is in line with the national directive that any branch where salaries are not paid by the third day of a new month should take action,” Prof. Molwus stated.

He added that a strike monitoring team has been set up to ensure full compliance with the industrial action.
