Atiku Praises Natasha for Fighting Suspension

    Share

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for standing up against her six-month suspension from the Senate, calling her fight a brave defense of her rights and a win for democracy.

Senator Akpoti had taken her suspension to the Federal High Court, where Justice Binta Nyako ruled on Friday that the punishment was too harsh and unfair to both the senator and her constituents in Kogi Central.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, Atiku also commended Justice Nyako for delivering a courageous judgment that struck down what he called the “obnoxious” suspension.

Atiku said, “I hail Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for challenging the illegality of her suspension by not sleeping on her rights in a chamber where women are already vulnerable. There’s no price too great in asserting one’s rights.”

The ruling means Senator Natasha can return to the Senate to represent her people after the court lifted the suspension. This case highlights ongoing concerns about fairness and representation in Nigeria’s legislative system, especially for women lawmakers.
